Objective: To help students notice how thoughts and emotions appear like posts or reels in a social media feed and practice observing them with awareness instead of reacting automatically.
Instructions:
1. Take one slow breath and imagine your mind as a constantly updating social media feed.
2. On paper, quickly note or sketch three “posts” that are showing up right now. These can be words, short sentences, or small drawings.
Examples:
1. A meme post—something random or light-hearted: “Brain buffering.” “Thinking about lunch like it’s a life goal.”
2. A rant post—something annoying: “Why is everything due today?”
3. A highlight post—something nice or peaceful: “Coffee smells good.” “The bus driver smiled.”
4. A repost or reel—a thought or feeling that keeps replaying: “Still thinking about that comment.”
5. Choose one post and add a short mindful comment, such as: “Take a breath.” “You’re allowed to rest.” “I can let this scroll past.” “Don’t need to fix it right now.”
6. Optional: Share one post and its comment with a partner or small group.
Reflection Questions:
1. What kinds of “posts” appeared most often in your mind?
2. Were there any that kept returning like a reel on repeat?
3. How did it feel to comment instead of react?
4. Could you try doing the same when you notice an intense post online?
